Renault Duster to Soon Touch Global Shores - Asian Cars

After creating a lot of buzz in Indian car market, newly launched Duster SUV will soon make its debut in overseas markets. To be developed in Renault’s Oragadam manufacturing facility, Renault Duster will make its first shipment to UK and then will gradually be stepped in to Africa, South Africa, and Malaysia and Singapore markets.

 
Talking on the matter, Renault India Managing Director, Marc Nassif said that India is a priority market for the company and product that will be shipped to UK will be a different one, though it will be sold as Duster brand there. He further added that no doubt Chennai would be an elite hub for Renault to export its products to markets that depend on right-hand drive option. So whatever is demanded in abroad, will be developed in Chennai only.

 
Duster did extremely well in Indian market even more than expected, so company planned to export this SUV with right- hand drive option and Ennore Port Ltd will be utilized for exports, said Nassif. Asking about sourcing of Duster’s components from India, he said that last year company sourced around Rs.500 crore worth of components and this year too same is being expected.

 
Currently in India, Tata and Mahindra export SUVs to global markets, while Hyundai and Maruti ship small cars.
