According to VW and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, select 2012-2013 Beetle models fitted with the optional leather sport seats could have a fault that prevents the vehicle's airbag system from properly detecting a child's seat installed in the front passenger location. VW warns that if the front passenger seat gets wet, the occupant control module may not properly detect the presence of a child safety restraint installed in the seat. If the system fails, it will not automatically shut off the passenger side front airbag if a child restraint is installed. In the event of a crash severe enough to trigger the vehicle's front airbags, any child fastened in the front seat would be subjected to an increased risk of injury. VW will remedy the problem by replacing the faulty airbag control module. No timeframe has yet been set for the recall campaign. In all, 2,471 2012-2013 VW Beetles are included in the recall. div.post-content1 ul li { list-style:disc !important; margin-left:20px; color:#000000; } div.post-content1 ol li { list-style-type: decimal !important; margin-left:20px; color:#000000; } #editorial_graph ul li { list-style:none !important; margin-left:0px; } Source: Leftlanenews
