Maruti's Manesar Plant to Come Back to Normal Operations This Month - India Cars News - LatestCarsWallpapers.com

Country’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki is again on the spree to take back its glowing position, which was somewhat deteriorated by labour unrest along with around one month lockout caused in the factory corridors of Manesar plant of the auto group. As of now, production of all models has been started and company is prepared to return to normal operations by the middle of this month.

 
Manesar plant produces company’s well-liked models Swift and DZire along with SX4 and A-Star and is presently rolling out about 800-1,000 units a day against the usual production of 1,500- 1,700 units a day, before the violence broke out in factory. At the time of lifting of lockout on August 21, company had plans to produce 150 units per day, so witnessing this admirable figures, it can surely be said that Maruti will soon come back to regular operations.

 
When asked about the necessary steps to be taken for preventing that hullaballoo to be ensued again, company officials said that an internal assessment is being carried out by the company and besides this, Maruti would also like to analysis the report of special investigation team formed for this purpose by the Haryana government. Moreover it is also heard that by next week, company will work on few counter measures to avert such things in future.

Skoda Eyes Kerala Market for Network Expansion - India Cars News - LatestCarsWallpapers.com

The Czech based automobile manufacturer, Skoda is aiming to spread its arms in the country and this time it is eyeing Kerala market for network expansion. The automaker is now keen to establish three more dealerships in the state in the next one year, taking its total count to nine from current six outlets in the region. The plan was shared by Mr. Sudhir Rao, Managing Director of Skoda Auto India Pvt. Ltd.

 
Mr. Rao exclaimed, “In the next one year or so we will set up a new showroom at Kottayam, followed by Kollam and Kannur by year 2013. Kerala is a progressive market, which accounts for 1.5% of the nationwide sales and the same is likely to be increased by 5% this year.”

 
Skoda is very hopeful about Kerala as it aims to sell 1,500 units in the state this year as against to 500 units sold in year 2011. Mr. Rao mentioned that the company is targeting to attain 10% of the national sales volume from Kerala. With great luxury cars from Skoda Auto in India, Rapid accounts for 60% of the total local sales, thus becoming the most significant sedan model for the brand.

 
With wide network across India, Skoda owns total 106 dealerships and now wishes to touch a mark of establishing 150 outlets in the next three years. Mr. Rao expressed, “Skoda’s global annual sale is roughly around one million units and now its objective is to touch a sales count of 1.5 million cars by 2018. Therefore, now the target for domestic market India stands at 1.5 lakh car sales by 2018 from current figure of 35,000 – 40,000 units.”

Mercedes Benz Aspires to Have 40% Product Range under Rs. 25 lakh by 2015-16 - India Cars News - LatestCarsWallpapers.com

After facing huge rivalry from its two top contenders BMW and Audi in India, the German auto giant Mercedes is on spree to regain number one position in Indian car market. For this purpose, auto group is in process to introduce sub Rs.20 lakh models in the country. As per company officials, Indian premium segment in the range of Rs.20 lakh-30 lakh is currently witnessing good growth figures as compared to the above priced luxury car segment that is facing flat growth. So it is the time when Mercedes should come with less pricey luxury vehicles.

 
According to sources, company is expecting to drive remarkable volumes in India by 2015-16 and seeks to have around 40% of its product range to be priced below Rs. 25 lakh in next 5-10 years. This aspect seems more accurate and defined from the statement of company’s Managing Director and CEO, Mr. Peter Honegg, who exclaimed that the German luxury brand Mercedes will not eliminate the case of introducing sub Rs. 20 lakh vehicles in the country.

 
Peter Honegg further said that upcoming model A- Class of the company could possibly be priced in this range and in addition to this; a sports utility vehicle based on the A-Class platform will also be launched. In 2011, Mercedes-Benz’s sales enlarged by 27.69 per cent to 7,430 units from 5,819 units in 2010 and this year too company will sum up its accounts with similar number of sale figures, he added.

 
Though globally, Mercedes desires to regain the number one position by year 2020, but in India, it will fight for the number one trophy much ahead of it. By 2015-16 Mercedes India will have a complete range of products from premium to luxury, Honegg said. When asked about the borrowing of smaller engines from French car giant Renault, he added that this might be considered in future, however nothing has been decided yet. Company’s current endeavour is to stay gainful in times of severe pressure from unfavourable currency fluctuations and economic slowdown that has forced the firm to hike the prices twice by a total of 4-5 per cent in 2012.

When crowd in auto industry is running after price –hike, how can General Motors be left behind in the race? Well same depicts here with the auto group’s decision of price hike on its entire range of models by up to Rs. 20,000. With an aim to counter the effects of currency fluctuations and economic slowdown, GM will offer its products on increased prices from 8th October.

 
While talking on the issue, P Balendran, General Motors India Vice President reportedly quoted that high input cost, rupee depreciation and freight charges have badly impacted company’s profit margins, so now it is the time to shift little burden on customers. Auto group will hike the prices between 1-2% resulting in increased burden of Rs. 8,000-20,000 on customer’s pockets depending on different models, he added.

 
Well other carmakers including Maruti Suzuki, Honda, Renault and Audi have already hiked their products prices citing similar reasons. While Honda has increased the prices of the Brio, Jazz and City models by 0.2-2.6 per cent, Maruti gave a price boost of Rs. 5,250 on its all models. Moreover, Renault India has raised Duster’s price by Rs.40, 000 and Q3 from Audi’s stable has also seen a price hike of Rs. 50, 000. Tata Motors seems to be an exception to this list, which had cut the prices of its compact car Indica eV2 by Rs 23,000 with the launch of a refreshed version.

The third largest luxury car maker Mercedes Benz India is soon going to have a new MD and CEO as Mr. Peter Honegg, the current Managing director of company has announced his decision to go back and take the chair again in the Germany headquarter. Mr. Peter Honegg, who was appointed as MD on January 1, 2011, has done a great deal in building brand name of the company in Indian luxury car market. Mr. Eberhard Kern will be joining Mercedes India on December 1st  2012, as the head of operations.

 
However, normally an expat CEO spends at least three years in a market, Wilfried Aulbur, Mercedes’ India head before Honegg, had passed five years in India before quitting the company but Peter Honegg after spending approx two years in country, now due to his personal family problems has wished to go back to Daimler Headquarters at Stuttgart. And in gratitude of his long relations with Daimler, the company management too agreed to support him.

 
Mercedes was the first auto giant among the three German luxury makers, which set foot in India but soon lost grounds to rivals, who have been fast in introducing new products. While BMW has X1 in line-up, and Audi launched Q3 compact SUV in early 2012, absence of an entry-level SUV in its portfolio is perhaps a big reason of slow growth of auto group.

Around 30 years ago, Fiat rolled out a four-wheel-drive Panda, which proved to be a bestseller car and now after a long time, company is again ready to offer this cute animal with an extra set of claws and muscularity. Honda City CNG Sedan Likely to Debut this October - India Cars News - LatestCarsWallpapers.com

Sometime before, it was in news that Honda Cars India will introduce CNG version of its highly populated City sedan. And now same seems to happen as some of the close sources from Honda confirmed the news of launching CNG City by the end of October. The all new CNG City sedan will be around Rs.50, 000 pricier than its current model.

 
Honda has been working on this project since a long time and it is believed that few minor tunings will be done in the current model that will possibly include changes in instrument panel. Moreover suspension is also expected to become more powerful in order to support the additional CNG unit weight, which is being housed in the boot of the car. In addition to this, engine is likely to be tuned with an aim to offer improved fuel efficiency, which is the need of the day.

 
If speculations are to be believed, Honda will follow Hyundai’s tradition to get CNG kits fitted by the dealers. Hyundai, some days back offered CNG kits with its three car models including Santro Xing, i10 and the Accent with the dealer end installation scheme. And in Honda’s case too, CNG kits will not come as factory made units.

 
Though Honda has its own name in Indian car market, but absence of diesel vehicles in its portfolio seriously has been hampering its success, so to meet the competition, auto group will come with Brio diesel by the next year. Apart from this, Brio automatic will also make its presence on 18th October. Well as something is better than nothing, CNG sedan in festive season would surely be a cherry on the cake.
