Customer is god in this era, so to please him is the supreme task for any company for the moment. Same philosophy is being followed by German auto giant Volkswagen, which is gradually increasing its regional parts distribution centres (RDC) in the country to brace its current after- sales services eventually resulting in better customer relationships. After Gurgaon, the auto group has started developing second regional parts distribution centre (RDC) at Bhiwandi (Thane), to be completed by the Q1, 2014.
After a ground- breaking ceremony of traditional bhoomi-poojan to set up the center, Gerry Dorizas, managing director, Volkswagen Group Sales India remarked that second centre is being formed for better relations with domestic customers by offering them reliable after sales services. He further suggested that this centre will serve western, southern and eastern regions that contribute around 60-65% in group’s sales volumes.
It is also heard that the facility is spread over an area of 21,000 square metres and will be adorned with India-specific state-of-the-art warehousing software called the ET2000. As estimation, this center will take around 24 hours to deliver parts in western region dealerships, while southern region dealers will receives parts in 72 hours.
