BMW, "Bajerish Motoren Verke", (BMW, Bayerisch Motoren Werke AG), the German automobile company specialising on manufacture passenger and sports cars, cars of cross-country capacity and motorcycles. The Headquarters is in Munich.
In 1913 on northern suburb of Munich Charles Rapp and Gustav Otto, the son of the inventor of an internal combustion engine Nikolausa Avgusta Otto, create two small aviamotor firms. Now BMW, begun with small aviamotor factory, makes the production at five factories in Germany and twenty two branches scattered worldwide.
