CR Favors BMW X3 Over Range Rover Evoque

Since its launch, Land Rover’s Range Rover Evoque has racked up numerous awards and plenty of praise from the automotive press. But in their latest comparison test, Consumer Reports favored the BMW X3 over the all-new Evoque.

 
The latest X3 handily outpointed its European rival in a head-to-head comparison as CR editors were disappointed with the Evoque’s cramped interior, stiff ride, artificial-feeling steering, and poor emergency handling. And while plenty of other publications have given the Evoque accolades over the past few months, the new crossover failed to receive CR’s coveted Recommend rating.

 
“The X3 does an impressive job of combining sporty handling, a lavish interior, and surprising fuel economy,” said David Champion, senior director of Consumer Reports‘ Auto Test Center in East Haddam, CT. “Although the stylish Evoque has won lots of accolades in the press, including North American Truck of the Year, our more thorough testing reveals quite a few flaws.”
