Part Cooper and part Countryman, the all-new 2013 Mini Cooper Paceman is set to make its debut this month in Paris. Aiming to take on the likes of the Nissan Juke or perhaps even the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque, the Paceman combines utility and performance in a unique package.
Essentially a two-door, more aggressive version of the Countryman, the Mini Paceman features a sloping roofline, long doors, and an integrated spoiler that conveys its sporty in characteristics.
Although the Paceman concept housed the same engine as the John Cooper Works version of the Cooper — a 211-horsepower, turbocharged four-cylinder — the production model will get come with a a 122-horsepower 1.6-liter, while S versions use the same engine, tuned to make 184-hp. The S model will dash from 0 to 62 mph in 7.5 seconds.
Buyers will be able to choose between the standard six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed auto. All-wheel drive is also available. Other unique powertrain features include an auto stop/start system, as well as a sport button that will alter engine response and steering settings for a more spirited ride.
Inside, the four-seat Paceman is classic Mini with a round central speedometer and glossy black and chrome accents. Standard amenities includes air conditioning, powered door mirrors and front sports seats. Popular options will include Xenon Adaptive Headlights, Park Distance Control, an electrically operated glass roof plus the Mini navigation system. Advanced infotainment functions are available via Mini Connected.
The 2013 Mini Paceman is due to hit European showrooms in March while sales here in the U.S. will commence shortly thereafter. Find more details posted below.
