"Although we would have liked to see the assembly of Infiniti's new compact vehicle realized at Magna Steyr, we are pleased that Magna remains an important supplier for Nissan," said Gunther Apfalter, Magna's European chief, in a statement released to members of the media. Initially, Infiniti had planned to contract the new, unnamed model's assembly to Magna International, but the automaker has decided to build it in-house instead. The new Infiniti is due out for the 2015 model year. Infniti is hoping that the new car will give it a stronger foothold in Europe, where it has found just 4,000 buyers for its G and M sedans and FX and EX crossovers since launching on the continent a few years ago. By comparison, Infiniti sells that many cars monthly in the United States alone. The Magna plant has assembled a variety of vehicles in the past, including the Jeep Grand Cherokee, which will soon be built in Italy, and the MINI Countryman and Paceman. MINI does not plan to renew its contract with Magna either. div.post-content1 ul li { list-style:disc !important; margin-left:20px; color:#000000; } div.post-content1 ol li { list-style-type: decimal !important; margin-left:20px; color:#000000; } #editorial_graph ul li { list-style:none !important; margin-left:0px; } Source: Leftlanenews
