If automobile technology turns green, the step will be the most beneficial way to cruise on roads for all, making it a better place to live in for men and environment. And so Tata Motors continuously opts for new way to flourish as it walks towards the new mantra of going green.
In the new Annual Report 2011-12 of Tata Motors, the company clearly exclaims its fresh initiatives to turn green in its operations and technology. It is the first auto brand in the country that sells vehicles which run on alternate fuels such as CNG apart from selling petrol and diesel-run cars as well.
Few of the examples of alternate options available from Tata Motors’ stable are Ace CNG and Indigo XL CNG. Both these electric cars are available internationally in exports market. In the annual report, other models such as Indigo Manza hybrid, the Starbus Fuel cell concept and the Nano & Magic Iris CNG – concept vehicles are also highlighted and were showcased at the Delhi Auto Expo held this year in January. These are few significant steps from the company towards going green in the sector.
Tata Motors owned Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) is also not very far away from exploring the green way as it has got research projects such as REEVolution, REHEV and Range-e running that are working for the electrification of its premium sedans and all-terrain vehicles. Most importantly, model year 2012 (MY 12) line-up of Jaguar XF and the Range Rover have been equipped with extremely fuel-efficient engines. Also Tata Motors introduced its BSIV compliant Sumo Gold in Indian in 2011-12.
Furthermore, the brand is quite eagerly executing its initiatives to turn its auto engines more eco-friendly and home grown Tata Motors is known for being the first Indian brand to bring vehicles with Euro (emission) norms, as mentioned in the annual report.
