BMW's says its global sales rose 11.6 percent to a record-setting 177,716 units in September. Those figures include BMW's MINI and Rolls-Royce brands. BMW's record September was fueled by strong demand from Asia, where the group's sales increased 40 percent to 45,781 vehicles. In mainland China, BMW's sales surged 59.4 percent to 29,631 vehicles. Despite weakening market conditions, BMW was able to achieve a modest 4.8 percent growth to 92,442 vehicles In Europe. However, Russia posted a solid month with sales increasing 48.5 percent to 3,985 unit. BMW's U.S. sales inched up 3.5 percent to 26,660 vehicles. "We made solid gains in many of our markets last month and were once again able to achieve record sales in September, despite the difficult environment in some European countries," said Ian Robertson, Member of the Board of Management of BMW AG. "Our models continue to perform well and we expect to see further healthy growth in worldwide sales in the fourth quarter. We are well on course to achieving a new sales record for the whole year."
