Codenamed M157 internally, the Ghibli will reportedly ride on the same platform that underpins the Chrysler 300 sedan. According to Autocar, the sedan will share the exact same 120.2-inch wheelbase as the 300. As previously reported, the entry-level Maserati will be fitted with a version of Chrysler's 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 good for about 400 horsepower. Maserati is also planning to offer the car with a diesel V6 and a performance-minded V8. All engines will be hooked to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Although Maserati typically turns to Pininfarina for the exterior design of its vehicles, the Ghibli's styling is reportedly being penned in-house. The four-door is expected to borrow many styling cues from the Levante SUV that will be launched in 2014. Following its Frankfurt debut, the Ghibli will go on sale in Europe and in the United States in llate 2013 or early 2014. Source: Leftlanenews
