GM's Canadian operations announced on Friday that is adding an additional shift at its Oshawa plant to ensure it has enough 2014 Impalas on hand to meet market demand. GM is also extending one production shift on its Consolidated Line until June 2014. That line was previously scheduled to close in June 2013. A third shift will also be added to GM's nearby St. Catharines Powertrain facility which produces six-speed transmissions for the Impala. GM says the longevity of the additional shifts will be "dependent on market demand." GM's announcement comes just two weeks after the Detroit-based automaker agreed to a new four-year labor deal with the Canadian Auto Workers union. Source: Leftlanenews
