By comparison, properly-equipped versions of General Motors' two full-size heavy duty trucks, the Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD and the GMC Sierra 3500HD, are rated to tow up to 18,000 lbs. with a conventional trailer hitch. Ram's revised 2013 HD trucks have not been officially rated by the manufacturer.

Previously, the F-Series Super Duty was rated at a maximum of 17,000 lbs.

In addition, the F-Series Super Duty's brakes have been upgraded to provide better heat dissipation. The towing and hauling capacity ratings were upgraded without any changes to the truck's suspension.
