Already the top automotive marketplace on the Web, AutoTrader.com is eager to become the top destination for car buyers who are on the go. The site recently launched an enhanced mobile site that’s aimed at satisfying the needs of more than one million consumers who access the site each month from a mobile device.
AutoTrader’s usage data has revealed that mobile usage is increasing at a staggering rate, particularly on the weekends when car shoppers are less likely to be sitting in front of a computer.
“There’s a new generation of shoppers among us, and their use of mobile devices is growing quickly,” said Jose Puente, director of mobile products at AutoTrader.com. “Mobile shoppers have different needs and expectations when they’re using their smart phones than when they’re using a computer, and the significant enhancements we made for the new mobile site were designed with those needs and expectations in mind.”
To better address the needs of mobile shoppers, the new and improved mobile site now includes more search options, better filter and sort options, location-based features that leverage GPS, an improve photo viewer, and more. The new mobile site even makes it easier for shoppers to share vehicle listings with their friends on Facebook.
As AutoTrader has discovered, car buyers are rapidly turning to mobile devices to help them research potential automotive purchases. As such, AutoTrader is turning its attention away from the Web, and investing its its mobile platforms. The site originally launched its mobile site back in 2010 and has subsequently introduced an iPhone app and an Android app.
“We’re proud of the growth that we’ve seen in the usage of our mobile site,” added Puente. “For the millions of shoppers who access AutoTrader.com from mobile devices each year, these new features should be a welcomed addition to their car shopping experiences.”
