The automaker will halt two of the three production lines at the Tianjin factory for the entirety of next week, according to a report from Japan's Nikkei newspaper. The third line will be idled on October 22 and 26. Toyota is also trimming output at several of its other plants in China; overall, the company plans to cut its Chinese production in October by half compared to the same period last year. Many Chinese buyers have taken to boycotting Japanese goods following Japan's contentious acquisition of two East China Sea islands from private ownership. China claims that the islands, which afford access to lucrative fishing waters and may be adjacent to natural gas reserves, have been part of its territory for centuries. Toyota's sales in China dropped 49 percent to 44,100 units in September. Honda's deliveries fell 41 percent to 33,931 vehicles for the month, and Nissan's volume was also down 35 percent to 76,066. div.post-content1 ul li { list-style:disc !important; margin-left:20px; color:#000000; } div.post-content1 ol li { list-style-type: decimal !important; margin-left:20px; color:#000000; } #editorial_graph ul li { list-style:none !important; margin-left:0px; } Source: Leftlanenews
