With the demand of commercial vehicles declining in the past few months, the stars of Tata Motors also seem to face darkness as steadily lessening demand has forced car maker to announce another block closure for three days at its Jamshedpur plant, after two production halt earlier, one of which was recently undertaken from November 12-14.
Validating the plan, a Tata spokeperson remarked that the block closure is planned due to pitiable demands of commercial vehicles. Company wishes to regulate its productions according to demands instead of accumulating inventory at dealer’s end, he added.
Commenting on the issue, Chandrabhan Singh, general secretary of Telco Workers Union said that after November 26, there has not been any production at the plant. Auto group had 5,000 units of vehicles production last month, figures of which in general is 10,000 units per month. Production halt is the cost-control measure, which company has undertaken due to droop in demands driven by the existing slow-down.
The Jamshedpur plant of Tata Motors manufactures heavy commercial vehicles, along with engine cab and cowl.
