The success of the Subaru BRZ and Scion FR-S have proved to General Motors the value of having an affordable lightweight sports car. It's no secret the Toyabaru triplets have been true game changers in the affordable sports car segment and aside from the Mazda MX-5 Miata, they currently have no other direct competitor. However, that's likely to change very soon. Speaking with Australia's Drive website at the Detroit Auto Show, GM president of North America Mark Reuss confirmed that his company is at work developing such a competitor and that it was "on the list" of its upcoming models.
