Heavily inspired by a concept that was presented at the GTI Meeting in Wörthersee earlier this year, the Polo R WRC wears a more aggressive look than the potent Polo GTI thanks to beefier bumpers all around, rally-inspired 18-inch wheels, a trunk-mounted spoiler and two chromed exhaust tips. The hot hatch is only available in white with contrasting gray and blue stickers and it is fitted with model-specific emblems on both ends. The front passengers are treated to bucket seats upholstered in leather and Alcantra, an arm rest and a navigation system. A three-spoke steering wheel and pedals made out of aluminum come standard to complete the race-bred look. In the Polo's tight engine bay lies a 2.0-liter TSI four-cylinder that is borrowed from the Golf GTI. Linked to a six-speed manual transmission, it sends 220 horsepower and 258 lb-ft. of torque to the front set of wheels, enough to propel the sub-compact from zero to 62 mph in 6.4 seconds and on to a top speed of 150 mph. Volkswagen will build just 2,500 examples of the Polo R WRC. Pricing information will be revealed closer to the car's on-sale date. div.post-content1 ul li { list-style:disc !important; margin-left:20px; color:#000000; } div.post-content1 ol li { list-style-type: decimal !important; margin-left:20px; color:#000000; } #editorial_graph ul li { list-style:none !important; margin-left:0px; } VW previews 220-horsepower Polo R WRC Reviewed by Ronan Glon on December 11 Only 2,500 examples of the Polo R WRC will be built.
