The Denim Chin offers an in-depth look at his steam-powered Doble. Jay Leno has donned a new shade of denim for his latest Garage video, in which his 1925 Doble Series E steam car is the star of the show. It's a rare treat to have the engineering behind a steam car explained, especially when in it's a Doble, regarded by most enthusiasts as the king of all steam cars. And Leno would know, being one of the biggest vapor-power enthusiasts out there. According to the Denim Chin, it produces 1,000 pound-feet of torque, which, like electric cars, is generated almost instantaneously. The steam is created in a condenser that Leno has had remade from space shuttle-grade materials that can withstand up to 6,000 degrees of heat. That's just one of the fascinating facts about the car and its engine that you can learn by watching this video below.
