2014 Ford Transit to get optional 3.2-liter diesel - 2013 Cars Wallpapers

2014 Ford Transit to get optional 3.2-liter diesel
Although the turbodiesel will be new to the U.S. market, it is currently offered in Europe where it makes 197 horsepower and 347 lb-ft. of torque. These numbers are expected to change a little as Ford makes modifications to the mill in order for it to comply with U.S. emissions regulations.

Technically, the 3.2-liter is light-years ahead of the smoke-belching oil-burners that were common thirty years ago. It is equipped with piezoelectric fuel injectors that provide multiple injections per stroke, a selective catalytic reduction system and a particulate filter. Ford says that the engine is capable of burning B20 biodiesel without any modifications.

Like the Transit's gasoline-burning 3.5-liter EcoBoost, the 3.2-liter diesel will be exclusively available with a six-speed automatic transmission.

The parts that make up the 3.2-liter mill will be built in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, and exported to Ford's Kansas City Assembly Plant in Claycomo, Missouri, for final assembly.

Ford has not announced how much the diesel-powered Transit will cost.
