BMW announces M3 DTM Champion Edition - 2012 Dec. Cars News

The DTM Champion Edition is finished in matte black and features M stripes on the roof and on the trunk lid. The rims and the calipers are also painted black, giving the car a sinister look. The rear windows wear a touch of color thanks to a sticker that pays homage to Spengler and his latest victory.

All DTM Champion Edition cars are equipped with the Competition Package that was introduced on last year's M3. It consists of air intakes on the hood, black wheels, a carbon fiber spoiler on the trunk lid and a discreet splitter mounted below the front bumper.

On the inside, the front passengers are treated to bucket seats upholstered in black leather with contrasting light blue stitching. The dashboard and the center console are both fitted with carbon fiber trim and Spengler's signature is engraved above the glove box.

BMW did not mention whether it has made any modifications to the M3's 4.0-liter V8 engine.

Only 54 examples of the M3 DTM Champion Edition will be built, a number chosen to celebrate BMW's 54th win in Germany's DTM racing series. Available to order now, the Champion Edition carries a base price of €99,000 (roughly $129,000) in Germany. Whether or not the car will be offered in the United States is not currently known.
