This Guy Spotted Three LaFerraris While in Italy - Luxury Cars 2013

Not a half bad way to spend the day. Not bad at all. Just to be clear, this guy is one lucky bastard. He was at the right places at the right times. Well, one of those locales just happened to be the Ferrari factory in Maranello. Youre very likely to see plenty of Ferraris there. But while on the road between Ferraris hometown and Carpi, he also came across a La Ferrari pre-production model out for a little test drive. It sounds fantastic and it looks spectacular, even with some body camouflage. Were honestly not sure why theres even camo there to begin with considering the supercar has already been fully revealed. Whatever the case, our video friend here also stood outside the Maranello gates and caught a suspicious stare from a LaFerrari test driver/engineer.

Volkswagen to Build a Subaru Outback Fighter - Luxury Cars 2013

VW plans to target Subaru's well-guarded territory with an AWD "sport utility wagon" all its own. Volkswagen is on a quest to dominate the global automotive market. The German automotive giant even stated a few years back that it wants to become the largest car maker in the world by 2018. By doing so, it will need to take down both GM and Toyota. And as it turns out, even Subaru is now in its crosshairs. A new report is indicating that VW wants to expand into the all-wheel drive world. In fact, the car has reportedly been green lit and will be based on the upcoming Golf-based Jetta SportWagen.

SpeedART's Porsche 911 Turbo BTR-II 600 Evo - Luxury Cars 2013

Scissor doors on a Porsche 911 Turbo Cabrio? Sure, why not. Perhaps its styling is a bit much for some, others will find this tuned Porsche 911 Turbo Cabrio by SpeedART to be quite the styling exercise. The SpeedART BTR-II 600 EVO Ultra Edition is a somewhat extravagant display of what can be done in order to add some spice to the previous-generation Porsche 911 (997) Turbo Cabrio. The German aftermarket tuner got things started by adding a sports exhaust system that helps to increase total output to 600 horsepower, up from 473 hp.

A 1966 Ford Mustang That's Like No Other - Luxury Cars 2013

This thing is built for racing. Pure and simple. Anyone whos ever driven a classic stock Ford Mustang will know it has its faults. That doesnt mean its not a great car, but when it comes to racing, old Mustangs have their drawbacks. But damn do they look fantastic. Theres just something about them. So can it be possible to take a classic Stang and rework it with modern parts so that itll tackle the race track with ease and stability? Mike Maier from Maier Racing asked himself that very question and he built a solution. His 1966 Mustang coupe underwent some major improvements that have turned it into one of the best-built and most fun to drive classic muscle cars on the road today. This latest episode of Big Muscle with host Mike Musto explores both this very special Mustang and the man who made it better than ever.

Futuristic Audi Pops Up In Ender's Game Trailer - Luxury Cars 2013

Audi is definitely good at product placement, even in the future. Nearly thirty years since the release of the novel, Enders Game has been made into a movie. And as an extra bonus for fans of both Audi and science fiction, Audi has created a futuristic concept for use in the movie, known as the fleet shuttle quattro. Audi did this once before, with I, Robot, but this is the first time the contribution will be purely CGI. It is also said that it will mesh better with the film than Detective Spooners RSQ, a car which seemed a bit pricy for a cops salary. The trailer only shows a brief glimpse of the car, and were not entirely sure that the actual movie will offer a whole lot more, but its quite possible that the movie will be worth watching anyway.

Nearly 100mph From An RC Car - Luxury Cars 2013

That's pretty damn fast for a toy. If you ever doubted that 1/8 scale model RC cars were serious business, we present to you the following video as evidence that they indeed are. Appropriately, it is a model of a McLaren F1, and although we arent exactly experts in these sorts of vehicles, we can tell you that it has a 2200kv motor. Its running a full scale drag strip, but is too small to trip the strips sensors, so the numbers we see for the car all come from the car itself. Ultimately, aerodynamics prove to be a major problem, and the car does some flips. Were guessing that these were never intended to go quite so fast, and the bodies might not be perfect copies of their big brothers.

Why Are These Mercedes CLAs Whistling? - Luxury Cars 2013

This one is just plain old strange. This one is just downright strange, but were theres a logical explanation for whats going on here. Just caught testing on the Nurburgring, a pair of Mercedes-Benz CLAs each happened to make the same weird whistling noise as they passed the car spotters camera. Strange we know, but we do have a few possible explanations. First up, its possible that there are some improperly fitted body panels, something not unusual to find on test mules. Another explanation could be the exhaust or some other engine component(s). What also cant be ruled out is the fact that this video was filmed from only one section of the track; are weather/wind conditions to blame? Anyway, everyone is welcome to chime in with their own theories.

Are We Spying A 911 Targa Or A Cabriolet? - Luxury Cars 2013

Is it a Targa disguised as a Cabriolet, or just a Cabriolet? We know that there is a Targa version of the Type 991 Porsche 911 bowing soon, probably at Frankfurt next month. This fact lends credence to the claim made by the user posting this video that the car we see here testing at the Nurburgring is a Targa. Now, it certainly looks like a Cabriolet, but the Cabriolet is already out, and this isnt a Turbo, so is this a Targa with a bit of fake Cabriolet roof? You would have to admit, its the perfect disguise. There is definitely something going on with the back section of the roof, although it would be difficult to say for certain that this is definitely a Targa. What do you think?

Anderson Germany Tunes The Mercedes-Benz CL65 AMG - Luxury Cars 2013

The big and comfortable GT packs a serious wallop. Like a velvet-covered sledgehammer. Even when it is in AMG form, its sort of odd to think of the Mercedes-Benz CL-Class as a car for tuning. The big coupe offers up a lot of power, although it is still very heavy and the styling is fairly understated. But Anderson Germany has managed to find a way to make tuning the CL65 AMG work. It wears a new matte grey paint job, new black wheels, carbon fiber wing mirrors and tinted taillight covers, all for a muted but still definitely tuned appearance.

BMW 4 Series Convertible Spotted With Little Camo - Luxury Cars 2013

With its official debut imminent, our spy photographers have captured a thinly covered 4 Series convertible. Yes, you should get used to the fact that two-door and convertible variants of the BMW 3 Series are now called the 4 Series. Brand and model purists are not too pleased. Everyone else doesnt really care. Expected to officially debut in the very near future, most likely at Frankfurt next month, our spy photographers have just managed to snap a few images of the 4 Series Cabrio with just about no camouflage hiding its body.

Porsche 911 Turbo Literally Smokes This GT-R - Luxury Cars 2013

The 911 is quite literally going like its ass is on fire. There is pretty much no way that a drag race between a 1,500-horsepower 911 Turbo and 1,500-horsepower GT-R could be boring, but the owner of this 911 probably would have preferred a bit less excitement. The 1-mile drag race started off with a bad start from the GT-R, allowing the Porsche to cruise to an easy victory, but even before the race ended, something had clearly gone wrong with the Porsche, as it was billowing smoke. Firefighters arrive and put out the small fire in the engine bay, and although the Porsche is still running, its clearly pretty fried.

Fernando Alonso Behind The Wheel Of The LaFerrari - Luxury Cars 2013

He is, after all, the expert on driving Ferraris fast. There isnt anyone at Ferrari with more expertise for driving them fast than Fernando Alonso. The two-time F1 World Champion has a unique insight into how technology trickles down from top-tier racing. He's obviously a valuable asset to the company in developing supercars for the road. It is therefore not at all surprising that he has been involved in the testing of the new LaFerrari hybrid hypercar, the successor to the old, yet highly desired Ferrari Enzo. Ferrari has put out a video of Alonso testing the car on the track, and it must be quite a machine, as even he seems to be concentrating pretty hard.

900HP 3Dx EVO Makes the Girl Next Door Sexier - Luxury Cars 2013

Even classy girls need a good ride every now and then. Weve seen a lot of cool street racing videos from the guys at 1320video in the recent past. This one is a bit less daring and a bit less unique, but theres still plenty to like about it. For it, they put Hanna, a girl who had never been in a particularly fast car, into the passenger seat of a 900 horsepower 3Dx Evo. These kinds of videos are usually just a mediocre excuse for some T&A (well, T anyway), and this one is at least a bit less sleazy than some weve seen. The driving doesnt seem to be especially crazy, but thats obviously because theyre on public roads in the middle of the day. Still probably fun though.

German Power Wagons Are a Blitzkrieg of Awesome - Luxury Cars 2013

Life is full of tough choices, such as deciding between the Audi RS6 Avant and the Mercedes CLS63 AMG Shooting Brake. Be prepared to see test drives of two of the coolest cars on the market today. Sadly, neither of which is available in the US. Typical. So it goes. The Audi RS 6 and Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG Shooting brake are a pair of super wagons that are ridiculously expensive, but are without a doubt worth every Euro/British Pound. Both have massive V8s with plenty of horsepower, and enough cargo space for anything from a couple sets of golf clubs, to fishing gear to all of your familys stuff for an extended road trip. But there is a difference. The RS 6 has Audis legendary Quattro all-wheel drive system while the CLS63 AMG is rear-wheel-drive. These German-built cruise missiles are sturdier than Panzer tanks, as much fun to drive as a Porsche 911, and have enough personality to make even the most stuck up Italian supercar nut giddy for a spin.

Another Ferrari 458 Burns, This Time on Paper - Luxury Cars 2013

The Ferrari 458 Italia once had a reputation for catching fire. And now it's even happening on paper. A few years back, a number of brand-new Ferrari 458 Italias caught on fire. Just like that, a fire broke out in one of the rear quarter panels that quickly spread to the rest of the car. And just like that, the 458s were engulfed in flames. Turned out the problem was due to an adhesive that overheated in the wheel-arch lining. It must have totally sucked for those owners as they watched their car burn. But the jokes about the 458 Italia fire incidents will never go away. The guys over at Bureau of Speed hired a guy to "speed draw" a 458 Italia, and things didnt go exactly as planned, or did they? At any rate they sure got their 5 bucks worth. Check out the video ahead and youll see what we mean. The 458 Italia catching on fire jokes will never go away.

Which Mustang is Faster: Roush Stage 3 vs. Shelby GT500 - Luxury Cars 2013

You don't need a huge bank account in order to go really, really fast. Its without a doubt one of the best horsepower bangs for your buck on the market today. In fact, the Ford Mustang has always been a bargain since it first premiered in mid-1964. But say if todays stock Mustang GT doesnt quite do it for you? Sure its got a wonderful V8, but you just gotta have more. Fortunately there are options, and two of them are the Shelby GT500 and the Roush Stage 3, producing 662 and 675 horsepower respectively. Compared to any supercar with similar output from Italy, itll cost you well north of $100k. You cant go wrong with either of these Mustangs, but as a speed nut, you still want to know which of the two is the fastest at the drag strip. This new video provides the answers youre looking for.

1957 Alfa Romeo 1900 SSZ Sounds Better in Italian - Luxury Cars 2013

There's nothing not to love about this car. It's just perfect. Yes, this entire video is in Italian. Just be sure to activate the English subtitles feature if your Italian is a bit rusty these days. When talking about and looking at a car like this 1957 Alfa Romeo 1900 SSZ Zagato, the whole experience is just better when that Romantic language is being spoken. Whats more, the owner of this car just so happens to be Andrea Zagato, whose grandfather Ugo Zagato started the iconic design firm some 95 years ago. In the case of this particular Alfa, its minimalist design exists not only for improved performance, but also for essential beauty. And yes, it was a race car back in the day. Despite its age, the design still looks magnificent and the engine note is just beyond everything good and wonderful on this earth.

End of the Road for the Mini Coupe and Roadster? - Luxury Cars 2013

Sales of the Mini Coupe and Roadster ain't so hot. Although it seems like they just had their premiere, the future aint looking too bright for both the Mini Coupe and Roadster. As we all know, the brand-new third-generation Mini Cooper will premiere very soon, most likely next month at Frankfurt. The current-gen model will soon be phased out, although the JCW variant will probably continue on for a short while until its replacement arrives. So what about the Coupe and Roadster? According to a new report, it appears that both will be replaced by a new model that "looks like a stand-alone sports car".
